Hello everyone!

Welcome to my very first blog post! I’m incredibly excited to share this journey with you all. Over the past year, my life has undergone a remarkable transformation. What my whole life has been taken a simple hobby has blossomed into an aspiring professional career in photography, and I can’t wait to take you along for the ride.

A Humble Beginning

A little over a year ago, I was just another person with a camera. Photography was something I did to unwind, a creative outlet that allowed me to capture the beauty I saw in the world. I spent countless weekends wandering through parks, exploring city streets, and visiting new places, always with my trusty camera in hand. Each click of the shutter was a moment of joy, a chance to freeze time and preserve memories.

The Turning Point

The turning point came unexpectedly. I had (still do) a regular 9-5 job for a corporative company, which has been really satisfying and I have loved many moments as I do love what I have been doing for the last 10+ years, I’ve met incredibly talented and personally amazing people, whose some of them I will forever be grateful for the opportunities, the learnings, the words, and the moments.

One day, however, this very idea was planted in me as a small seed, and kept on growing in me, I have loved photography as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about it and the one thing that drives me is “Whatever you do, do it with all the love and passion”. Not that have not loved my career but the passion on photography and cinema has always been popping every chance they have.

So I grabbed my camera, and started this journey a year ago, taking classes, courses, workshops, every single knowledge I had ripping it off and learning as many things I can, and listening, always listening from every single person that can teach me from the smallest to the greatest thing.

Embracing the Learning Curve

Transitioning from hobbyist to professional isn’t easy. There was and is so much to learn, from mastering advanced techniques to understanding the business side of photography. Like said before, I invested in courses, attended workshops, and spent countless hours practicing and experimenting. Every challenge was an opportunity to grow, and every success, no matter how small, fueled my determination.

I dove deep into the world of photography gear, learning the ins and outs of different cameras, lenses, and accessories. I explored various genres, from portrait and landscape photography to street and event photography. Each niche offered its own set of challenges and rewards, and I loved the diversity its brought to my work.

Building a Portfolio

One of the most exciting parts of this journey has been building my portfolio. I started by offering photo shoots to friends and family, using these opportunities to hone my skills and expand my collection.

I learned the importance of showcasing my work online. I built this website, carefully curating my best photos to attract potential clients. Social media became a powerful tool, not just for sharing my work, but for connecting with other photographers, inspiration, and industry professionals.

The Business Side of Photography

Turning a hobby into a career involves more than just taking great photos. I had to learn about contracts, pricing, and client management. Setting up my business legally was a daunting task, but it was necessary to ensure I was operating professionally.

Networking played a crucial role in my growth. Attending industry events and joining photography groups helped me make valuable connections. I found mentors who offered guidance and support, and I met peers who inspired and challenged me.

What’s Next?

This blog is my way of giving back and sharing what I’ve learned and what I am still learning. I’ll be posting tips and tutorials, behind-the-scenes looks at my shoots, new gear and stories from my experiences. Whether you’re a fellow photographer, an aspiring professional, or simply someone who loves beautiful images, I hope you’ll find something here that inspires you.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here’s to capturing life, one frame at a time.

Stay inspired, stay safe, stay in focus,

Manu,
Kinema Atelier
